Below is a short list of projects that the Church Properties Committee has for the time being :
- Chancel Remodeling. The plans to shift the chancel space 12' to the south while retaining the current "look" was set into motion at the Spring, 2008 congregational meeting. The funds have mostly been raised through gifts or memorials. We're just waiting for the right time to get it started.
- Exterior Tuckpointing:The brickwork on the exterior of the original structure is showing signs of wear and tear. A close look will reveal that some bricks have even fallen loose in a couple of places, as illustrated in this picture taken on the west side. We have contracted with a tuck-pointing company to begin this repair work as soon as their schedule allows -probably sometime this fall.
- Parsonage Deck Canopy: Construction of this canopy over the deck behind the parsonage was just completed this past week. Bruce Collmann inspired Pastor Sherer with the simple design and, with the help of several volunteers, this project is finished! This was approved by the Church Council last summer after it was necessary to cut down the huge maple tree that was dying, dropping more and more branches with each thunder storm. The idea behind this canopy was to provide some nice shaded area in place of that big, beautiful tree. Thanks to Marv Poppen, Cathi Lensch, Mark Christianson, Lynne Meier and Loren Johnson. Also thanks to Bernie Critz, from accross the street, for his cautious ovesight.
- The Corner Garden: If you look at the east side of the church building, near the office doors, you can't help but notice a nice crop of weeds that have grown up there in the corner. Last summer we excavated this area so that we could repair a large leak in the basement wall ( water would surge into the nursery room when it rained hard). As soon as Vacation Bible School is finished, we will complete this project, turning the corner into a nice memorial garden area . It will include a concrete patio, with flower beds, benches and a spot to serve coffee after worship during the summer.
